In Solidarity- Breonna
Hey Tysons Connect Family,
We wanted to reach out and just give everyone a virtual hug! Yesterday was rough. The murder of Breonna Taylor and the subsequent lack of justice was disappointing while, honestly, not surprising. We found ourselves angry, sad, hurt, worried and unable to concentrate.
Breonna represented our sisters, mothers, girlfriends, daughters, nieces, granddaughters and US! Black women, people, doing the best we can, doing good and still not protected. We are sure we are not the only ones feeling this way and as a collective we can say we are not ok.
And it’s fine to not be ok! It’s a lot, its draining, its hurtful.
At TTC, we always try to find the teachable moment in times like this- so if anything its taught us that the fight continues and we must fight harder.
We must continue to fight, advocate and support one another, hold space and do what we can in the places and spaces we are in. Individually, we may not be able to change the world, but we can change our circle and if we all do that, collectively, we can change our jobs, neighborhoods, state, country and world, for the better.
Sending love, light and encouragement your way-- today and always
